CHOODA BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Chooda's committed Board of Directors have organized programs to raise over $650,000 in five years for organizations working in HIV/AIDS, poverty, and women's empowerment.

BEN SHASBY - PRESIDENT Ben joined the Board of Directors at Chooda in 2016 and serves on the Executive Committee.  Ben has long been involved in service through events, programs, and professional roles. He was an AmeriCorps NCCC volunteer and a Peace Corps volunteer in Lesotho. While living in NYC, he volunteered extensively with New York Cares as a recurring project leader and large scale day of service site leader. After moving to San Francisco, he has led corporate volunteer projects, a monthly community project, and has restarted a leadership development fellowship program that engages community members in becoming more involved in the non-profit sector. Ben greatly enjoys engaging others in service, to have them experience the sense of community and accomplishment that accompanies the various ways of giving back. STEPHANIE VAN DYKE - SECRETARY Stephanie is founding member of Bike Zambia, having served on the Board since 2012.  Stephanie is the owner of Van Dyke Productions, a marketing consultancy company offering business development, graphic design, proposal development, production, and event planning services to the A/E/C Industry. The company was founded in 2010.  The goal of the company is to bring a broad range of marketing services to small firms which may not have significant marketing resources in house, or to large firms with an overflow of marketing needs.  Stephanie has completed her fourth 550-mile AIDS/Lifecycle bike ride from SF to LA. In addition to being an active cyclist, she is an avid traveler and thrill seeker who is looking forward to the epic bungee jumping that is rumored to exist at Victoria Falls, where the bike route ends. JOHN TRIPP - TREASURER John joined the Chooda Board of Directors in 2017 and serves as Treasurer.  He was born on the East Coast, raised in the Midwest, and also lived in Colorado and Texas. He currently resides in San Diego, CA. In every part of the country he visits, his eyes have been open to learn and grow from each region and community. His professional background is in Human Resources and Leadership Development. John has a Bachelors of Science in History from Illinois State University; a teacher's college. He strives to maintain a balance in life with a strong sense of self, a desire to help others know themselves better, and commitment to leave the world a better place than he found it. His passions are connecting with people and providing counsel based on his knowledge and experience. He is married with two "kids"; whippets/dogs Keenan (9 years) and Colby (5 years). His husband, Alex, was born and raised in Dallas/Ft. Currently, JD is the Executive Director of International Bird Rescue, a not-for-profit which works to mitigate the human impact on seabirds and other aquatic species through wildlife rehabilitation, emergency response and planning, research and education. He previously served as Director of Truelift, an initiative to create a trust mark signifying commitment to positive and enduring change for people living in poverty. He brings extensive experience in not-for-profit organizational development and change management, including Kiva, ACCION, and the U.S. Peace Corps in Bulgaria. As a Senior Director at Kiva, he developed the social performance strategy and badges, completed 100+ social audits of microfinance partners, and led the expansion of the Kiva Fellows Program.  He is a graduate of Washington University in Saint Louis and a frequent speaker in college classrooms about socially motivated microfinance.  For more information on his professional experience, please see his LinkedIn profile.

JARROD RONDEAU Jarrod joins the Chooda Board of Directors in 2017, after completing his first Bike Zambia in 2016.  Jarrod works at as a Site Supervisor at Glide Memorial's Janice Mirikitani Family, Youth & Childcare Center, and has been working in early education and child development for 11 years. Jarrod is also passionate about working in HIV/AIDS, and has volunteered at the San Francisco AIDS Foundation's men's sexual health clinic for two years and has completed three AIDS/LifeCycles.  Jarrod was trained as a fundraiser while working for AIDS/LifeCycle and is currently heading up Chooda's Fundraising Committee.
